Tian Shan Scenic Lookout
Designed by Kenny Wang, Principal Architect of this project, in collaboration with Ming Design Studio, the Scenic Lookout of Tian Shan Mountain is the third scenic spot of the Tianshan Baili Gallery Scenic Area, and it is one of the most spectacular natural landscape attractions in the scenic area. Tourists come to enjoy a panoramic view of snow ridges, canyons, cedars, and grasslands. Almost all the beautiful sceneries of the Tianshan Mountains are condensed together here and displayed in front of tourists.
The geological landforms of Tian Shan areas in Xinjiang province are continuous mountains, which are extremely spectacular and unique. As we believe that architectural design should respond to the natural environment, we extract powerful polyline elements from the mountain ranges and use them as architectural language to generate forms.
The proposed building is located on the edge of a cliff. The architectural design maintains the consistency of the design language for the entire scenic area while creating uniqueness by introducing the features of landscape architecture. The building form rises slowly from the ground for tourists to walk to the rooftop, where a lookout platform of over 500 square meters is designed for tourists to overlook the cliff.
