Tian Shan Baili Gallery Tourist Centre
Designed by Kenny Wang, Principal Architect of this project, in collaboration with Ming Design Studio, Tianshan Baili Gallery Tourist Service Center is the entrance and exit of the Tianshan Baili Gallery Scenic Area. The mountain ranges of Tian Shan are the source of inspiration and the starting point for our design.
The geological landforms of Tian Shan areas in Xinjiang province are continuous mountains, which are extremely spectacular and unique. As we believe that architectural design should respond to the natural environment, we extract powerful polyline elements from the mountain ranges and use them as architectural language to generate forms.
The architectural forms are divided into multiple unit blocks to simulate the state of mutual extrusion during the movement of the earth’s crust. The architectural character is not only massive and sculptural but also has a strong sense of dynamics. Stone claddings are used for building facades to further consolidate the design concept, making the scattered building forms sculptural.
A sculpture is designed as the threshold of the Southern Tian Shan Scenic Area. The sculpture rises slowly along the direction of vehicles as if growing out of the land and eventually rises straight from the ground, defining the entrance of the entire scenic spot.
