Our Story

At Wang Architects, design is personal. Our story began at the University of Melbourne, where Kenny and Ziyi first met. A travelling studio at Tongji University in Shanghai turned classmates into partners – not only in architecture, but in life. 

Ziyi’s talent in design was clear from the beginning. With top grades in her design studios, she was invited back as a design studio tutor in 2018, a role she still holds today. She went on to shape homes in Melbourne’s most prestigious suburbs through her work at leading design firms, refining her craft at the very top tier of residential design. 

Kenny, on the other hand, wandered through large-scale projects, things that looked grand but felt cold. Deep down, he longed for something warm and personal. Drawing on his fine arts training in sketching and painting in the early years, in 2022, during the global pandemic, he made the bold decision to start Wang Architects. Ziyi let go of her own role to help Kenny fulfill his dream, a dream that quickly became a shared one. 

Today, our growing team is shaping houses across Boroondara, Stonnington, and Bayside. Kenny and Ziyi remain hands-on with every project, from the first sketches to client conversations. 

Every home we design becomes part of our story, and this story is only beginning.
